China Anne McClain Reveals Which Of Her Characters She's The Most Like

China Anne McClain is about to take over your small screen so you better be paying attention.

After starring in Descendants 2 this summer, the 19-year-old actress will be seen in The CW’s Black Lightning and on Lifetime’s Ten this weekend.

Speaking with Rolling Out magazine, China Anne opened up about which character she’s most like — and her answer might surprise you.

“I feel like it’s a perfect mix between both [Black Lightning's] Jennifer and Uma,” she shared. “Because Jennifer at the start of the show of Black Lightning is going through a lot of stuff. She’s growing into herself. She’s getting to know herself.”

China Anne adds, “Getting into some trouble and you know, I’ve obviously been through that with my parents. So, I have a little bit of that and the just learning about myself.”

“Then there’s the side of Uma that’s very like I said determined and willing to do what she needs to do and work as hard as she can to get it,” she continues. “And that’s where my, ‘been-working-since-I-was-5-years-old’ side comes in because I take that very seriously.”

“So I feel like it’s a mix.”

China Anne McClain Says Uma Helped Her Prepare for 'Black Lightning' Role

China Anne McClain Says Uma Helped Her Prepare for 'Black Lightning' Role

China Anne McClain won our hearts all over again as Uma in Descendants 2, which premiered last weekend.

The actress, who may or may not return for a third movie (should there be one), admitted that playing Uma helped her in her new series, Black Lightning.

“Uma definitely helped me tap into that same energy because to play a villain and it’s on the opposite side of the coin, you need that power, you need that same energy,” she told J-14 about how the two roles connected for her.

China adds, “[Uma] for sure helped, and it’s just really cool to be able to play a superhero over here and a supervillain over there. I’m so excited!”

Black Lighting will premiere in 2018 on The CW.
