Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch Has To Pinch Herself Over Meeting Fans

Madelaine Petsch is two steps away from being a household name, but she’s still amazed about all the fan encounters.

The Riverdale star spoke with with DaMan magazine about meeting fans.

“Every fan encounter has been surprising and awesome,” she says.

“I’m still so excited that we have so many amazing fans of the show that when fans come and say ‘hi!’ to me when I’m out, I probably get just as excited as they do.”

Madelaine adds, “This is just the beginning for me. It’s really helped me appreciate those in my inner circle more than ever. I really strive to be a good role model for the younger generation and that has helped me work on myself.”

Madelaine Petsch Says 'Riverdale' Season Two Will Be Amazing For Cheryl Blossom

Madelaine Petsch Says 'Riverdale' Season Two Will Be Amazing For Cheryl Blossom

We always knew that Madelaine Petsch was a glam goddess, and her look last night at the Prive Eyewear Launch Party proved it even more.

The Riverdale actress attended the event with boyfriend Travis Mills, ahead of leaving to start shooting season two of her hit show.

Speaking of Riverdale, Madelaine recently chatted with Huffington Posts’s The Tea newsletter and opened up about what’s ahead.

“I’m very happy with how it [season 1] ended. I think the ending is literally phenomenal,” she shared. “Cheryl has this amazing story arc towards the end where she just kind of loses her mind. It sets up Season 2 perfectly. Her Season 2 is going to be so much fun. Our writers are phenomenal.”

But don’t worry, Madelaine IRL isn’t like Cheryl at all.

“People expect me to be b***** and busy all the time,” Madelaine says. “I’m just a nerd at heart, and I’m actually quite nice.”

She adds, “You can always come and talk to me. I love a good book. I’m not a club girl. I like hanging out and reading my books.”

Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch Originally Read For This Surprising Character Instead of Cheryl

Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch Originally Read For This Surprising Character Instead of Cheryl

Madelaine Petsch pretty much always knew she was perfect for Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale.

But yet, she first read for the role of Betty Cooper.

“I had actually auditioned for a guest star role on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and the show had the same casting director as Riverdale,” Madelaine explained of her personal casting process.

“I read for a part and the producers made me come back on the very same day, and when I met them, the main director was like, ‘Forget this role, I’m doing a pilot right now and you’re perfect for a lead, just hold off.’ For someone who’s working two jobs and wants this more than anything, ‘hold off’ are the worst words possible.

Madelaine continues, “Believe or not, the next day I actually got a call that wanted me to read for Betty. I read her breakdown and was like, ‘I love this girl, but I’m definitely not going to book this.’ I knew that off the bat. But I went in and was like, ‘Whatever, I’m going to knock their socks off, even though I’m not blonde.’ I knew who Betty was. I read for the role, and the director immediately told me that he instead wanted me for the lead villain of the show.”

“I was so excited, but it took me five months to go in and read for her. So I played the waiting game every day and it was brutal,” she adds. “…But the minute I got the pilot script and breakdown for Cheryl, I immediately understood who she was.”

“She’s clearly so broken and she comes from such a place of anger and hurt. I made her an angry, hurt little girl and it apparently worked in my favor.”

Madelaine Petsch's Show Business Advice Is Spot On

Madelaine Petsch's Show Business Advice Is Spot On

Madelaine Petsch is all smiles while out with her boyfriend, Travis Mills, in Los Angeles this week.

“You’re my flavorite (nothing comes between me & my food),” the Riverdale actress cutely captioned on Instagram.

Madelaine recently chatted with the Huffington Post and gave some really sound advice for anyone wanting to get into acting.

“There’s a lot of rejection in this industry,” she shared. “You have to develop a backbone really quickly and be able to take no for an answer for multiple years on end.

“Just have passion and know you are talented and have confidence in yourself. That’s a huge thing for every young actress.”

Madelaine adds, “The sabotage is real. Every actress wants this life, so it is a little cutthroat. It’s all about finding out who you are and being comfortable enough in yourself that you don’t need to seek approval from other people.”

Madelaine Petsch Puts On Her Red Nails For 'Riverdale' Season 2

Next month, the cast of Riverdale will be all back together again — and Madelaine Petsch is ready!

The actress, who plays Cheryl Blossom on the CW series, is all ready to become Cheryl again after showing off her ruby red nails on Instagram.

“Back to red, you know what that means,” Madelaine typed over the photo.

Just the day before, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa shared the first look at the premiere episode title.

The season premiere episode will be called, “Chapter Fourteen: #A Kiss Before Dying” — and the pictured used on the first draft is very, very interesting — a spilled milkshake.

Riverdale will return on Wednesdays this fall on The CW.

Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch Has Some Season Two Advice For Cheryl

Riverdale's Madelaine Petsch Has Some Season Two Advice For Cheryl

If Madelaine Petsch could give her Riverdale character advice going into the second season, what would it be?

We recently asked the 22-year-old actress what she would tell Cheryl.

“Try to lighten up. And not be so judgemental of yourself,” Madelaine said. “And love yourself. And go seek help because she needs it.”

We also asked her what she’d like to see in season 2 when it comes to the relationship with her mom.

“I really hope they go head-to-head,” she told JJJ. “Her mom needs to be put down. She’s an awful woman. She’s terrible! I’d like to see Cheryl put her in her place.”

In case you missed it, Madelaine also said she wants Cheryl to explore her sexuality!
