Melissa Benoist Talks Kara & Mon-El Reunion on 'Supergirl'

Melissa Benoist Talks Kara & Mon-El Reunion on 'Supergirl'

Melissa Benoist is dishing on what we’re all waiting for – Kara and Mon-El’s reunion!

The actress talked up what it’s going to be like for Kara to have her long lost love back and how they can move forward.

“It’s going to be weird and difficult,” Melissa told EW. “You watch Castaway, and Tom Hanks returns and Helen Hunt doesn’t know what to do.”

“He was the first love that she’s ever had,” she continued. “I know they had their differences up until the end, but toward the end, they really saw each other on an even playing field. They were peers. She said, ‘Go be a hero, you’re ready.’ They believed in each other, so losing that confidante, that support, that love was devastating to her. I feel like, for the first time, especially since we’ve started the show, she really felt like she had it balanced — she had a happy life with her partner, she had work going for her and was working her way up in the premiere, and she was loving being Supergirl and saving the world, so a giant part of her identity was wrenched from her.”

Watch the reunion on Supergirl this Monday (November 20) at 8 PM on The CW.

Kara is headed back to high school in tonight’s all-new Supergirl.

In the episode “Midvale”, we’ll see Kara (Melissa Benoist) and Alex (Chyler Leigh) head home to Midvale for a little R&R. While there, Kara recalls a painful memory of a childhood friend’s death and how that traumatic experience brought the Danver sisters closer together.

“What’s really fun is you’ll get to see, through the way they interact, more about how their relationship started when Kara first came to Earth, how it grew, how it became so close, and why they’re so close nowadays,” Melissa shared with EW.

Chyler adds that “it’s this mystery that has to be solved, basically, and they have to work together, and so you really do get a better sense of seeing what that looked like and how they had to figure things out and quickly.”

“We only got bits and pieces of that that we’ve seen in flashbacks in the past seasons, so this is one [episode] that’s really cool,” she adds. “I think the tone is going to be really different.”

Supergirl airs TONIGHT @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.

Melissa Benoist & Emily Bett Rickards Release Powerful Statements Following 'Arrow' Producer Andrew Kreisberg's Suspension

Melissa Benoist & Emily Bett Rickards Release Powerful Statements Following 'Arrow' Producer Andrew Kreisberg's Suspension

Over the weekend, the Arrowverse was shook after producer Andrew Kreisberg was suspended following sexual harassment and assault allegations.

Variety reports that over 19 women and 4 men have accused the Arrow and Supergirl producer of inappropriate behavior on their sets in Vancouver.

After a few days of silence on social media, Melissa Benoist and Emily Bett Rickards have both spoken out about the situation.

“We were recently made aware of some deeply troubling allegations regarding one of our showrunners,” Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter, who head Berlanti Productions which oversee Kreisberg’s shows, shared with the trade paper.

They add, “We have been encouraging and fully cooperating with the investigation into this by Warner Bros. There is nothing more important to us than the safety and well-being of our cast, crew, writers, producers and any staff. We do not tolerate harassment and are committed to doing everything we can to make an environment that’s safe to work in and safe to speak up about if it isn’t.”

Here’s what Melissa and Emily have shared following the story:

Melissa Benoist & Chris Wood Tease Kara & Mon-El's Reunion on 'Supergirl'

Melissa Benoist & Chris Wood Tease Kara & Mon-El's Reunion on 'Supergirl'

Kara and Mon-El have been apart longer than we would like on Supergirl, however, our reunion is coming soon.

In a recent interview with Den of Geek, Melissa Benoist revealed that episode 7 is when it’s all going down — but there is a catch.

“It won’t be the reunion you expect. It’s pretty mysterious,” Melissa shared.

Chris Wood, who plays Mon-El, adds that the Mon-El we know is not the Mon-El we’ll see when he returns.

“He’s going to be a very different Mon-El than what we saw last year, largely due to the whole mystery surrounding where he went and what he’s been doing,” Chris told TV Insider last month. “It definitely affects him. He’s been somewhere, doing something.”

“They’ve sworn me to secrecy on specifics,” he adds. “But there’s going to be a big change in him when he comes back [and] that worries the team.”

Supergirl airs Mondays on The CW.

Yael Grobglas Preys on Melissa Benoist's Fears in Tonight's New 'Supergirl'

Psi and Kara face off in this new still from tonight’s all-new Supergirl.

In the episode “Triggers”, Psi (Yael Grobglas), a thief with psychic powers, attacks National City and goes straight to preying on Kara’s fears.

“I don’t think there have been many opportunities that Kara allows herself to really feel what she should feel, especially with how tragic her life has been thus far and how many people she’s lost,” Melissa Benoist told EW.

“Now as an adult, she’s dealing with loss again and Psi uses that against her in a really mean way. You’ll really see Kara’s nerve crack in a way you haven’t before.”

Meanwhile in the episode, James (Mehcad Brooks) and Lena (Katie McGrath) are at an impasse, and Samantha starts her new job at L-Corp.

Supergirl airs TONIGHT @ 8PM ET/PT on The CW.

Melissa Benoist Reacts to Big News From Chyler Leigh While Filming Arrow-Verse Crossover

Melissa Benoist Reacts to Big News From Chyler Leigh While Filming Arrow-Verse Crossover

Melissa Benoist has a big and happy reaction to whatever on-screen sister Chyler Leigh is telling her while filming scenes for the crossover in Vancouver, Canada on Wednesday afternoon (October 11).

The two Supergirl stars were seen waiting outside a church before Caity Lotz, who plays Sara Lance on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, joins them.

Not that we want Alex Danvers and her fiance, Maggie, to split, but could the big news involve Sara in any way?

Floriana Lima, who plays Maggie, is going down to a recurring star, too.

There was that one scene where Sara asked out Kara, and she told her to ask her sister instead in the first crossover event — even though we never saw it.

Hmmm, we’ll have to wait and see!

Speaking of Supergirl, did you hear that the series has casted Amy Jackson as Saturn Girl?

Amy, a British-born Bollywood actress, will take on the part of Imra Ardeen, a.k.a Saturn Girl, a kind, smart, and strong-willed hero who uses her telekinetic ability to help those in need.

She was born on Titan, one of Saturn’s moons, and arrives on Earth to help Supergirl battle one of her biggest threats.
