Zendaya Promotes 'Without a Net' Documentary on 'Good Morning America'

Zendaya wears a chic blush suit while arriving at the Good Morning America studios in New York City on Tuesday morning (October 3).

The K.C. Undercover actress was there to talk about and promote a new documentary called Without a Net: The Digital Divide in America, which centers on students across the country who don’t have access to the technology that they need.

“Both of my parents are educators and grew up in a classroom understanding the value of technology,” Zendaya shared. “My mom actually worked in an underprivileged community and my dad worked in a private school which was less than a mile away from each other and the disparity in what they had is crazy…less than a mile away and you think about the opportunities that one school gets that the other kids don’t get.”

She continues, “This was something I’ve always grown up being aware of so when this came across I was like I need to be a part of this. I need to be a part of this action and making sure people know about it because it’s so important.”

“I think every young person should have access to the same amount of I think opportunities and futures and I think you would think that’s how it should be,” Zendaya continues.

“I really love that the documentary covers not just giving an iPad, which is great, but there’s so much more that comes with it and the teachers have to know how to implement it into their curriculum and needs to be connection.”

Zendaya Reveals How Social Media Has Changed Her as a Person

Zendaya Reveals How Social Media Has Changed Her as a Person

Zendaya is looking fun and fearless on the cover of Glamour‘s November 2017 issue, where she was interviewed by pal Yara Shahidi!

The 21-year-old actress and entertainer had a lot to share about social media, herself, her future, and more. Here’s what she told the mag…

On her plans for the future: “I want to produce and create shows and movies, whether or not I’m starring in them. You know, when you watch a show and you’re like, ‘That’s so good. I wish I’d made it’? Why not? Why not make it? Wild idea, I know.”

On her first job at Disney Channel: “I got my first job on the Disney Channel when I was 13, and it was just me and my dad in an apartment in downtown L.A. It was very difficult because I was dealing with all the pivotal girl moments. I remember getting my period and him not knowing what to do. It was a weird transitional phase.”

On her obsession with Oprah: “I have an obsession with Oprah. She’s someone who, even with everything stacked against her, has soared to unbelievable heights. If she wants to create a network, she can do it. She wants to produce a movie? She can do it. But then also there’s this level of realness to her. You feel like she’s your auntie.”

On her power using social media: “I can genuinely say that I’m not the same person I was a year ago. As my social platforms grew, I realized that my voice was so much more important than I had originally thought. I think if every young person understood the power of their voice, things would be a lot different. And it’s becoming more popular to be outspoken.”

FYI: Zendaya is wearing a limited-edition tee shirt by Stella McCartney, which is designed to encourage women to speak out, woman to woman. Proceeds of the shirt benefit The Girl Project, Glamour’s philanthropic initiative to support girls’ education.

Marisa & KC Will Graduate In 'K.C. Undercover's Final Episode

Marisa & KC Will Graduate In 'K.C. Undercover's Final Episode

Veronica Dunne just shared the cutest, and yet, the most heartbreaking pic from K.C. Undercover — they’re graduation!

The actress and costar Zendaya are all dolled up in their blue graduation caps and gowns for the final episode and JJJ isn’t having it.

It’s even worse, because we know this is the last episode since the cast just had their final table read a few days earlier.

Zendaya and Veronica have spoke out about the show being over earlier this year.

“I can’t answer that for sure, but if it was [ending], I think it’d just be a great way to end this season, and end this show, because it’s come to a great end and a beautiful family has grown up,” Veronica shared.

BRB, going to cry an ocean about this.

Zendaya to Receive Gamechanger Award at 2017 GLSEN Respect Awards

Zendaya to Receive Gamechanger Award at 2017 GLSEN Respect Awards

Zendaya is an outspoken advocate for women, POC, and LGBTQ rights, and she frequently speaks out against violations to those rights on Twitter and Instagram.

Now, she is being honored for using her platform for good at the 2017 GLSEN Respect Awards with the GameChanger Award.

“GLSEN is honored to recognize Zendaya with the Gamechanger Award for her commitment to social justice,” Eliza Byard, Executive Director of GLSEN, said in a statement.

“This award was created to spotlight the next generation of leaders, and Zendaya, unafraid to raise her voice on a host of issues affecting LGBTQ students and other marginalized communities, clearly exemplifies that leadership.”

GLSEN is the leading education organization creating safe schools for LGBTQ youth.

Considering Z‘s recent 2017 Teen Choice Awards speech, outspokenness about Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, and contract negotiations for K.C. Undercover, we can’t think of a better person for the award.

The gala will be held October 20th at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in L.A.

Congrats, Zendaya!
